Drift Fences

Drift Fence: X-formation

This X-formation drift fence works well in an open field. The drift fence material is called silt fencing and can be found at Home Depot. The silt fence in this picture is is 24″ high and comes with wooden stakes. Dig a channel 4-6″, leaving 18″ above ground. Perfect for amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and small mammals.

Drift Fence: Standard-formation

This Standard formation is typically used along the perimeter of and area under construction or evaluation. The HALT-2 frame is made of PVC piping and is designed to capture dorsal shots. This particular design was developed to hide the camera up into the frame. Along with permeable sheeting around the lid, the camera is pretty well hidden and almost appears to be a utility box.
